About Jill McAlister
Jill is passionate about empowering women to overcome difficulties and experience greater happiness and psychological well-being.  She has many years' experience supporting women to experience a greater sense of wholeness, healing and growth at all stages of life.  Having studied both traditional and transpersonal psychology, she is able to support women holistically at the emotional, psychological and spiritual level.

Jill supports women of all ages, including young women who are still developing their sense of self and confidence in the world, women who are experiencing challenges at work or in relationships, as well as women who are healing past trauma, making major life transitions or seeking to develop a deeper self-awareness.  Jill also supports women to make a smooth transition to motherhood and overcome pre and postnatal depression or anxiety and has given talks at Early Childhood centres and local meetings of the Australian Breastfeeding Association on the "Transition to Motherhood".  Jill also works on a contract basis for Gidget House, which specialises in providing assessment, psychological support and counselling for women experiencing perinatal depression and/or anxiety.

When supporting her clients Jill believes in adopting an integrative approach, adapted to suit her clients' needs.  She incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based approaches and Transpersonal Psychology.  Jill is also trained in Parent-Child Interventions, including being a CIRCLE OF SECURITY™ Registered Parent Educator and qualified to teach the CIRCLE OF SECURITY™ Parenting Program.  Jill has had her own private practice for over 12 years and she has a 7-year old son. 

Jill is a Clinical Psychologist and has a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with first class honours from the University of NSW and a Master of Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University.  Jill also has a Graduate Certificate in Adult Career Development from Wollongong University, a Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis, she has completed the EMDR level 1 training and has extensive training in Transpersonal Psychology, Energetic Healing  and Mindfulness-Based Therapies.  Jill is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

As part of her Clinical Masters' training, Jill worked at the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University, providing assessment and treatment to children with anxiety in both an individual and group format.  She also worked at Northside Hospital providing individual and group therapy to patients with mood disorders.  Prior to working in private practice, Jill worked in business as a Consulting and EAP Psychologist, providing counselling to individuals and couples, outplacement counselling, career coaching and psychometric assessment.  She has also facilitated group workshops on meditation, career development, job search skills, stress management, communication skills and leadership.
